The top sure looks like a Gulbransen console I have stashed somewhere:

Gubransen was a piano & organ manufacturer who branched into radio for a short while.  Like Jesse French I'm sure someone else actually made the radios for them.

Dommage, ils ont ruine une radio parfaitement bonne.

hello

Yes indeed, unfortunately, we meet some consoles from the 1930's , which could capt only MW , modified some years after in the end of 1940' s or 50's and fitted with french chassis with MW , LW and SW , cutting in the front of the console to make a rectangular window like this one ....

That' s really a pity, I acknowledge , but we think and judge now with our mind of collector, 70 years after .

Nowadays we can notice that some people modify and sell in France , surely elsewhere including in the states , old radio sets from the 1950's , removinng the chassis and replacing if with a bluetooth equipement !

How some collectors will judge that transformation within 50 years when we shall have disappeared ... ??

Have a nice week end

50 years? You're being generous Icon_smile
I'm sure an original radio in original or nearly original working condition will be appreciated very much. Of course, in 50 years there is not likely to be many stations left, especially on AM, somewhere in Europe FM having been discontinued (think Scandinavia somewhere, just this year).

Somebody in gov. decided it would be best for everyone to have digital fm. So the stations up and moved across the border and everybody can still use there analog sets.

Good evening

LW range : In France , the gov decided to cancel emission from Allouis ( center of France ) of " France inter " , one year ago .. Only are still available  during all the day ( 24/24) Monte Carlo ( Monaco ) , Europe 1, Radio Luxembourg , for french language , and BBC for english one .
During the night , other stations can be available as Alger ..

In MW range , all the french stations were also cancelled one year ago , only is still available the belgium french speaking one ; RTBF 1( Brussels ).

During the night numerous spanish stations are listenable , also north Africa ones , and some eastern Europe ones , depending the propagation .

For digital radio , France remain still with experimentations , and no choice of system is decided for the moment...

Other european countries have started commercial emissions .

I think we still have some years for use of our old radios , especially in MW and SW.

For FM , as FM is in every car, bus , truck,  listenable with distributed equipments we cannot replace easily .... I don' t imagine which could be the situation if suddenly or at short time anyone would décide to stop FM emissions !!!

Hello Friends

Another console

I Think this console has been modified , replacing the original radio chassis end of the 1940' s  with a french one without any brand .

But no any label inside the console indicated which american ( I suppose ) original one it could be .

Has anybod  an idea about which american model it was before refurbished ?

Thanks for your help

cordially

Claude

This reminds me very much of what American Bosch used to do, but I do not know what this is.

hello Morzh

Thank you for reply

Indeed I found very few american consoles - max two - with such type of legs but not same front decoration pattern  and quite different console aspect .
