Green speaker cloth model 45
#1

So another acquisition  a model 45 and (yes I probably paid too much) but no others have shown up at the right time.
I herd someone here talking about the speaker cloth on a 45 being green. This one has olive green kinda shinny cloth around the edges. Looks like it was pretty nice when it was new.
I adjusted the color to make as true as  as possible on my monitor. Has anybody seen this cloth for sale anywhere?

Green? Maybe the cloth has changed color over the decades? Most cloths I've seen are gold. If it's metallic thread woven in there, it could conceivably tarnish and look green. I used cloth pattern #14 from Radio Daze as a replacement. Not a perfect match, but it does have a gold color to it. If you look at the 45C in the Philco Gallery, look for the one submitted by me. That will give you an idea how it looks.

You might also consider the Goldenrod cloth available through Richmond Designs.

I think the olive green is correct. It looks preserved around the edges. This cabinet design was to look like a butterfly. I think they wanted it to have color. Notice the horizontal lines are light colored maybe white. Most philcos had very dark lines like these.

I have seen the 45 with both green and gold grille cloth. I agree that the green would be original.
