Philco 37-650X Tone, On/Off ctrl switch
#1

My 37-650X console arrived in pretty good shape considering it went from Mass to Florida.  FEDEX did manage to snap the Tone,  on/off switch (part #64) arm off flush with the nut on the chassis front.  I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what models might have a replacement. The more options I have the better chance of finding a chassis on ebay.  Or maybe install a seperate on/off switch and wire it up for one tone?

My plans are other than listening to Shortwave is to play my RCA 45 rpm record player thru it.  I will have to rig a phono output for it so if anyone has any ideas on where I would tap in that would be appreciated.  Thanks for any help or ideas.

It looks like 37-650 tone control is part 42-1184.

At a minimum it looks like that's shared with:
  • 37-660
  • 37-670
  • 37-665

There may be others but none of those sets are particularly common. It may be easier to find an electrically compatible rather than exact replacement.
It might also be possible to repair the broken shaft.

Tks for the info Nathan.  I was thinking that I would probably have to sub in an equivalent part.  Maybe even a sep switch and the tone control.  This is going to be yet another of my personal radios lol so as long as it works it doesn't have to be original.  I will just keep an eye out on ebay for a poss replacement.

Any ideas on how to wire in a phono plug?  I was thinking that usually you just tap off of the center tap of the vol pot but not sure.  Also would have to install a switch to cut off ant input I imagine.
TKs again
