1930 dewald pierce arrow
#1

Hi guy's,
Interesting radio here.
Don't know if anyone can enlighten me on this rare radio.
There are pics online that I could find, but have not found schematics yet.
This one has 2 cans on the chassis that screw in like a light bulb.
Anyone have info on this oddball?
Would like to re-cap if I knew what it requires.
Tube lineup is a little different compared to what I am used to screwing up.
Anyone work on one of these?
PS,
You can't drive this one.

Hey Murf, you might try searching Dewald pierce airo.

Found this by cross referencing an pursuing DeWald Pierce Airo . Check it against your radio. It may be what you are looking for

BE CAREFUL ! THIS MODEL WAS MADE TO RUN ON DC , NOT AC ! 110 - 120 VDC.

Yeah, I found that, but I have no clue what is required to re-cap this.
I noticed that the one screw in type can has a couple newer caps installed. Those would be the A caps.
The B caps are not noted as size of cap.
Don't want to fry the radio or me as this one is way before my time.
Noticed the bottom of the screw in can does not have leads. It is just flush. So whats up with that?
I assume the can is positive and the base is negative?
Cute radio and very heavy for is size.
Nostalgia schematics does have a 1 page schematic on Page 2-4 Dewald.

Murf, like Mike said the schematic he linked to is a DC chassis, not AC.  It would be helpful if you told us the tube types and maybe a picture or two of the chassis and capacitors in question.

Well I can tell you it has a 45 as well as an 80 and three 24's.
I think that is what is shown on the schematic's.
My schematic says AC-524
I will check tonight.
Thanks

Sorry guys.
Couldn't find the schematics at first.

Problem solved.
I found a better copy of the schematic that is somewhat readable, and enlarged it at work for better clarity and found that my copy had been cut off and there is a note on the bottom of the page that state the -A- can contains the two 8mfd electrolitics and the -B- can caps are in the filter block.
I kind of figured that those were not E-caps in the -B- can.
I can now comfortably finish it up.
Sorry about all the confusion on my end.
Next time I will do the research first before jumping on the forum right away.
Thanks again,

Good deal Murf.  Sorry I wasn't able to help much, but my schematics are all downstairs and with my knee replacement 3 weeks ago I don't hobble down there too often yet.
