Real Purdy!

Turned on my Philco 96 and saw a strange light reflecting off the wall.  I think my radio has gas! Curious as to why only one plate is glowing. I think I'll check the HV transformer. Radio works fine with replacement 80.

I heard activated charcoal helps. And no legumes.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Someday you will see an 80/5y3 etc go off with fireworks, with every streamer the transformer throbbing. Had a Globe 280 in a Radiola 60 do that...

Oh, do check the filters, leaky caps and a weak 80 with give a similar effect...

Thanks for the advice, Chas. The caps are all high voltage film caps so I suspect they are ok. With another 80 in there, I hear/see no detrimental effects. Gonna check the transformer though.

Edit: Transformer is fine!
