41-255 Speaker replacement
#1

    Hello it's been a while!
I have a Philco 41-255 schematic here.
http://www.nostalgiaair.org/pagesbymodel...013408.pdf

The speaker FC coil is open so I'm faced with putting in a PM speaker. The coil is rated for 1100 Ohms and I have a 1000 ohm 20 watt ceramic resistor. I believe I have figured it out but not sure. I'm posting a hook up picture. Don't want to power it up till someone takes a look at it. I have not totally recapped it yet just the filter caps and increased their value. Checked the tubes and there good. Any opinions?
Thanks Eric

Ok my MESS up.
Had it hooked up wrong Field Coil should have been A & D and voice coil should B & C.
Now for the rest of the recap. Also good news the wiring is in good shape and if I'm careful and not disturb to much this should by an ok restoration.

Amazing what an overnight brain rest will do!

I've recapped the radio and it plays well and even though I increased the value of the Filter caps from 12uf & 16uf to both @ 22uf I'm still getting Hum from the PM speaker. Increase the values to 33uf? Any Thoughts?

You can make the output cap as large as you want but increasing the input cap too much puts a bigger load on the rectifier.
