Philco Transitone for a 1936 Packard 12
#1

Hi all - I'm in the middle of restoring a Philco PA 3833, 1421P for a 1936 Packard also being restored. This is unique radio with the detached head assembly with control cables between the head and unit. The restoration is pretty much streight forward, some chrome to be redone and the case blasted and painted. It has a detached speaker, 8" round. I have two of these units so I should have any parts that I may need. The one problem I have and have had it before, were do you find the proper grill cloth for it. In the past I've gotten close but this time the car is worth about $250K and I sure would like to have the right stuff. I have the old cloth but due to it's age it is hard to tell a lot, you can pick up the design but the colors are a guess. Any ideas?

Try asking John O. at http://www.grillecloth.com

I have looked at all their samples on line, but I'll try contacting him.

Thanks,
