FORUM RULES - PLEASE READ
#1
Exclamation

The following are the rules for participation and posting on the Philco Phorum.

Revised October 3, 2021

I. Permitted and prohibited discussions.

A. The following types of discussions are not allowed in any part of the Phorum:
  • Any personal attacks of one member upon another.
  • Any libelous or potentially libelous postings.
  • Any discussions of a lewd or pornographic nature.
  • Any postings which may be considered as "spam".
  • Any discussions of a political nature.
  • Any references to bodily functions, or any type of "bathroom" humor.

Likewise, usernames that have anything to do with "bathroom" humor are not permitted and the user will be banned.

This is intended to be a family-friendly site.

Spam is not tolerated here. On the first offense, your username, e-mail address, and IP address will be permanently banned from the Phorum, and the incident reported to your ISP.

One strike and you're out. Period.

No ads are allowed except in the For Sale Or Trade and Wanted Ads sections. Any such ads found in the regular discussion forums will be deleted by management, no questions asked.

B. Discussions which are permitted:

Any other discussions (which do not break the rules) are fair game. Just keep it clean, and be kind one to another, OK? But let us please not let things get out of hand.

If a topic gets out of hand, it will be locked and/or deleted, and the offending party (or parties) will be notified via PM.

II. Multiple threads on the same subject not allowed.

When you start a thread, please keep the discussion within the same thread.

Example: "Philco 90 broken"

After you've started that thread, please do not start another thread on "Philco 90 bad resistor" if it is the same Philco 90 being discussed in the original thread. Give others a chance to respond to your questions rather than asking them again in a new thread - please be patient.

These sort of threads will be immediately deleted, to keep clutter to a minimum.

Please cooperate with management in keeping one thread in the same place rather than scattering it around.

III. Location (city & state) mandatory.

A. A city (or town, or village), and a state (in the USA), province (in Canada), or name of country (for areas outside the USA or Canada) - is required in your profile in order to use the Phorum.

B. Vague terms such as "United States", "Southeast", "Over in left field," and "Somewhere, USA" will not be permitted. Likewise, just a city name, or just a state name, is not sufficient. (The system will not allow your membership application to be processed unless you fill in both the City and the State, Province, Country fields.)

C. The reason we have this rule is to be able to more easily help anyone seeking radio repair information, nearest radio club, etc. It is much easier to do this when it is known where you are.

D. Anyone who does not have a city and state in their profile will have their posting privileges suspended. If the fields are not filled out correctly when you sign up, your membership application will be deleted.

IV. "For Sale or Trade" and "Wanted" ads

A. Effective March 15, 2022:
  1. All for sale ads must include an asking price.
  2. If you are willing to take less than your asking price, include the fact that your price is negotiable, or that you will accept best offer.
  3. No links to your own eBay, craigslist, Etsy, or other online selling venues are allowed in "For Sale or Trade" ads.
  4. Users are encouraged to post links to eBay, craigslist, Etsy, etc. items (but not links to your own items) in "Wanted" ads to help the person find what they are looking for.
  5. If you do not know how much to ask for your item, do your research first. Check online to see how much similar items have sold for. Don't assume that the highest asking price you find is correct - it usually isn't. As an example, you can do an eBay search on "sold items" to see what these have actually sold for.
  6. The first person to post "I'll Take It" is first in line to purchase. Subsequent posters will follow in order of interest.
  7. Any ad which does not include an asking price will be deleted by Phorum management, no questions asked.
  8. If your ad is deleted for failure to follow these rules and you then repost your ad, and it still does not follow the rules, you will be subject to disciplinary action including suspension or banning.
  9. Once your item sells, kindly post here letting everyone know it has been sold. Otherwise it will be assumed that it is still available.

B. No ads are allowed in the regular discussion forums; these are only allowed in the For Sale Or Trade and Wanted Ads sections. Any such ads found in the regular discussion forums will be deleted by management, no questions asked.

V. You are encouraged to post, post, post!

A. Please feel free to interact with the folks here. Your posts, comments, questions, etc. are most welcome provided they do not violate any of the Phorum rules listed herein.

Please...don't be shy...post away! Icon_smile

VI. Sending people away from the Phorum.

A. People come here to receive assistance. We are a community dedicated to Philco and related subjects. If a discussion is started here or a question is asked that relates to Philco, please do not send them to some other forum. If you want to link to a specific resource or tutorial on outside forums, that is fine, but simply telling people "you should post over at..." or "have you tried over at..." is not appropriate. It can frustrate members looking for solutions and not more forums to post in.

B. This also applies to forums associated with vendors of various radio parts, tubes, services, etc. Referring people to the vendor website is perfectly acceptable, as is referring them to specific resources, threads or tutorials in their forums; but telling them simply to go post or search in some other forums is not. Please remember, at all times, that they came here for the answer.

VII. Should you experience any difficulty in using and/or posting to the Philco Phorum:

A. You agree to notify a member of management as soon as you experience difficulty. This is the only way in which problems can be solved.

B. How to notify a member of management:

Follow this link and you will see links to send an email or PM to a member of management.

C. Phorum problems and issues are not resolved by posting complaints on other radio forums. They can only be resolved by following the steps above - contact a member of management via email.

D. Complaints and/or negative comments about the Phorum or any Phorum member, administrator, or moderator posted by a Phorum member on the Phorum or on any other online forums is not considered acceptable behavior (see Part I-A above) and will not be tolerated.

VIII. Failure to follow these rules may be considered grounds for disciplinary action including suspension or banning, at the sole discretion of the Phorum management (the Site Administrators and/or the Moderators).

IX. Your first post on the Philco Phorum indicates your acceptance of these rules.

Thanks,
The Philco Phorum Management
