Philco Jr (believe to be an 80 or 81) Issue
#1

Finally replaced all caps, resistors, and the 80 and one 36 tube and fired her up. Did get a lot of squealing between stations, but with an antenna can get stations. Use the Sensitivity adjustment on back and station comes in clear. When I go to select other stations, get squealing inbetween and once on station if adjust sensitivity get clear station. Once set is warm I can go to a couple of stations, squealing inbetween but they come in (audio output not the loudest - I'll have to try again at night). I then turned off the radio with current setting let it sit for a while and turn on and I have to go through same routine. Frustrated and wondering where else I should look? Is this radio that bad a receiver that needs this much adjustment?

How many knobs does it have? Try loosening the sensitive control, this should stop the squealing between stations.

there is a large (larger than others) sensitivity ctl at the back.
Read the part about the "birdies" and overzealous guys in the Rider manual.
There is the procedure there to adjust the sensitivity (it's a cap) so the birdies don't chirp any more.
