A Couple Of Rough "new" Philcos
#1

Since my booth in the antique shop has had a flurry of sales on my clocks, I had to go out to find some replacements to get ready. In the process I came upon these two Philco's and brought them home also.

First is a 640X and then a 620 tombstone. Yes the top came off, but it is not damaged and will go back on ok.

Good finds!

Your 640 chassis looks like it will clean up very nicely! I have the tombstone version, and like the four band feature a lot.

Curious how the rectifier tube and the filter condenser can seem to have swapped holes in the 640X, at least according to the tube location chart.
It looks like someone intentionally loosened the top on that 640X, there should be some screws holding it on but those appear to have been taken out. The 640X cabinet itself, while the finish is obviously shot, doesn't look like it suffered any major water damage.

These sets look pretty good to me. Not all that rough at all. You're going to enjoy them.

Thanks TA! I think it will clean up nicely also. The four bands is what got my attention on this set. I have not seen many around here so I thought I should not let it go by.

Good eye Arran! I have checked other schematics and all agree this is reversed. Wonder how many sets are like that?

Codefox, overall they aren't too bad so we'll see how I can make them play and look..............the inventory just keeps getting largerIcon_rolleyesIcon_rolleyes
