Philco 37-84 coil issues?
#1

I've been looking at and pondering getting a Philco 37-84 and a friend I know keeps swearing up and down that they are nothing but trouble with thier coils. Do these sets have problems with thier coils? Also, how sensitive are they with reception? I just don't want to bring home a radio that ends up being a heartache. Icon_crazy

Seems like most of them do have coil issues but it's no big deal to fix. Now bear in mind that this set is the cheapest set Philco made It picks up rather well.

Ok, I wanted to find out before looking at any of these sets in the future. I just wish these radios were more plentiful around my area. I only know of one that MIGHT be for sale and that is it. Once again, a radio Philco made thousands of and a type I don't recall ever seeing for sale anywhere around here. My friend said he thought a nice model 60 cathedral might be a better deal. I will be getting my 60L back here fairly soon actually.

No matter where you go, there you are.
