Schematic/Alignment Data Request
#1

Hi,

I picked up a pretty nice 42-380 recently, and have found the schematic and alignment data available online to be pretty much useless because it's not legible due to the poor quality of the scan.

Could anybody help me out with a high-res scan of these pages? It's in Riders Volume 14 (Pages "PHILCO 14-48, 49) and of course, as luck would have it, I don't have that volume in my collection Icon_sad

Here's a picture of the radio....

I would recommend going to Chuck's site Philcorepairbench.com and ordering the package for your set.

For 7.00 you get all pertinent data and updates, including alignment data and excellent enlarged copies of the schematic and chassis diagram.

Another option is to watch for Philco Factory Bulletins that are usually found in three-ring binders. Often you will find them complete, or close to it as I found one.

AND it is a good idea to keep an eye out for the Philco RMS Manuals that were published in 1939, 1940, 1941 and 1942. They cover a lot of good info with respect to that year's sets.

Thanks for the tips.

I normally pull schematics from a Rider's Perpetual, scan it high-res, and print it spanned out across 6 to 9 pieces of paper which I then tape together poster-sized and hang on the wall. The bigger and clearer the schematic, the easier the radio is to work on.

I have found when they have the ones you need that this URL has the cleanest downloadable copies out there, from the Philco bulletins at audiophool. http://audiophool.com/Philco.html You have to have WinDJView to view them on Windows computers. I found they have the one for your radio. HTH
