38-7 Tube Shields
#1

Received a table model 38-7 yesterday as the console model I have is going to need a little brother. Didn't pull the chassis out yet but in taking a quick once over on it, there is a difference on the number of tube shields between it and the chassis from the 38-7 console. Sorry if this is a silly question, but is there a way on the schematics to tell which tubes were designed to have shields, and is there a good source for them should I need some? Thanks in advance Icon_biggrin

I've seen a few Philco schematics that indicated shields on tubes (by a dotted line surrounding the tube on the schematic), but most do not. The 38-7 schematic does not show shields on it. The only way to tell is to look on the chassis - assuming that the original shield bottoms surrounding the tube sockets have not been removed, that is.

I see the shields on eBay frequently; Play Things Of Past is another possible source.
