Fixing part of the grill cloth on 37-116
#1

The grill cloth on the lower right of my 37-116 is pulled away from the right side on the right grille.  Is this easy to fix, or am I just asking for more trouble than it's worth to just leave it?

Thanks!

If it is just a matter of regluing the fabric to the board then I'd probably give it a try. Be careful, the old fabric is usually pretty fragil. If the fabric is torn, I'd put in new grill cloth. Fortunately there is reproduction chevron cloth available.

I'm not sure what it's a matter of. I've never had to replace or fix grille cloth before. I don't want to put new/repro in this grille if I don't have to. Then it wouldn't match the other two.

I'm just hoping someone has some advice based on the condition shown in the picture if it's salvageable or not. And if so, what to do.

Honestly, I would leave it as is for now. If you ever have to remove the speaker mounting board for some other reason you could address it then. The defect is not in an obvious spot and is really not that noticeable.

Yep, if you use repro there you would have to redo all the grille cloth. It's not hard to do but I'm with Mondial and would leAve it alone unless you have another reason to go into the cabinet.

Like the others I would tend to leave it alone for now.  You'll have to pull the speaker board to see if it has just pulled away or is actually torn.  I suspect it is torn and for a good match you'll need to replace all of the cloth as already mentioned.

One thing I will suggest if you plan on keeping this set is to consider buying some grille cloth now while it is still available.  We had most of our supply dry up a year or two back when a manufacturer closed their doors, so while we currently have a supply I wouldn't take for granted that it will be around forever.
