Philco 42-RP1 and Syl's preamp circuit
#1

In a past post dated 1-11-2009 in the Philco Home Radio section entitled
"Found today in the local Goodwill", Phorum member Syl posted photos and/or diagrams of a small cartridge preamp circuit that could be used to
amplify the output of a cartridge. Syl described the circuit as being
almost postage stamp size and able to be mounted under the cabinet of
a Philco RP1 phonograph.

If anyone has a copy of the photos or diagram PLEASE re-post it or
PM me with photos and details. If anyone has used the circuit, I'd
love to know how well it has worked for you. I'm restoring a 42-rp1
and everything works except that the output to the transmitter is low
and its output is also low. I've used a deck style preamp to amplify the
signal to the transmitter but its not convenient to use the record player
that way.

Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

The thankful receiver bears a plentiful harvest.

I believe Syl is no longer with us but the discussion was with "gary rabbitt" who has posted relatively recently.  You might try sending him a PM to see if he retained those photos and schematics.

Absolutely no one is going to reverse engineer that circuit. Even the iron core is missing.RodB — 10:37 AM
