The Fisher R-20 Medalist Series II
#1

Here's a really neat hi-fi I've been meaning to photograph for some time now, but I've been preoccupied with rebuilding several of my Philco Tropics...

With many thanks to a Phine Phorum Phriend, this Fisher R-20 followed me home about a month ago. I know another Phorum member who has one of these, and I was really impressed by its performance when I heard it. Icon_thumbup This set has a 15 inch woofer which faces down towards the floor. It can produce some rafter-shaking bass!

This one is going to need some work, but it should not be too difficult as there are only a couple paper caps under the hood, and a few electrolytics. It really should not be difficult at all.

It still has its original Garrard RC-121 MK II changer. Not only that, but it has all of its original paperwork including the original sales receipt.

I'm not going to work on the chassis right away as I want to acquire a schematic first, even though I probably will not need it since it does not really look complicated under the chassis.

For now...I just wanted to share. Icon_smile

To the Phorum member from whom I acquired this fine set...thank you so much...once I get it going again, I know I will enjoy it. Icon_thumbup Icon_thumbup

That should be a really nice addition to your mid century modern home. Looks like a powerful player.

A friend has a console exactly like this and it does sound exceptionally good. I think it uses a couple EL84's for output but can really fill a room with sound. Great small size too.
