Wire wound resistor value
#1

Quote:I have this broken resistor and need a value, it won't test but the body is brown, red paint on one end and a green dot in the middle.

Hi Kirk
What tube and pin is it connect to?? Looks like it's pin5 of the 43 tube.
Terry
ps Do you have a solder sucker???

Did a little research and it's 512 ohms. A carbon replacement is fine. 500 ohms @ 1/2-1watt is the ticket.

Thanks Terry,

Someone said it was 625 ohms see below:

The resistor is 625 ohms 1/2 watt, item 19 on the schematic.

It doesn't use the same color code as dogbones.

It uses:
??? = blue = 6. This may be missing due to disintegration of the part.
end = red = 2.
dot = green = 5.

Was he wrong? I put in a 680 ohm resistor before I saw your post. ugh!

No worries you can leave the 625 in there. The value isn't terribly critical, it set the bias for the output stage. Also better to be a little high than low in value. I saw a 625 ohm resistor in an other Fada schematic with a 43 in the audio output. But thought I would go with color code.

I want it to be correct, If you say it is not important here that's fine but where is the chart for these resistors for the future?

Is it still body end dot?

Thanks
Kirk
