Philco 39-30 Questions
#1

I have a 39-30  http://www.nostalgiaair.org/PagesByModel...013289.pdf

The pilot light is part 51 but it is it a 44 or 47 is there a way to tell what belongs?
My other question is on the ANT / GROUND terminal the ground is connected through a .02 cap before going to ground the print does not show this configuration, the print just shows it going to ground. What is correct?

Thanks   Eric

Looking at this chart:

http://www.philcorepairbench.com/lamps.htm

It is a special frosted or painted bulb, but the specs of 6-8 volts at 250 ma also match those of a type 44 which is a bayonet base bulb too, so that should be a good sub.

I don't see a .02 in the schematic for the ground either, does it look like a factory cap or something someone added later?

Already had replaced it as I was changing all paper caps it but I had cause to look at it when I checked the terminal with a meter and it showed high resistance then looked at it and saw the cap. This radio was missing an output xformer and the Bakelite condenser block 41 was also jumped out. So someone has messed with it.

Went into vol. X and looked at other Philco's with a terminal for ground and not a one shows a cap there so I will remove it.

Yeah, I'd remove it too.  When you replace the two .01's that were #41 you want to use safety caps since they are going from line to ground.  I use X1/Y2 caps like those in the link, but I got mine at Mouser:

That cap provides the RF ground to the chassis. You typically would see this on an AC/DC set. I would just connect the gnd post to the chassis. The bulb doesn't matter the 47 will lighten the load by 100ma. Where it is critical is on series strung heaters as all the current need to be equal.
