Washing soda, or baking soda, but it only works with steel or iron. I thought of trying Borax but I've never heard of anyone else doing that.

Just cleaned a solid brass table lamp with my electrolysis bucket using washing soda and a deep cycle 12 volt battery. It came out looking like new! Did a much better job than buffing with Simichrome compound. Take care, Gary

Wow, Terry: those are some rough project sets BUT that is the way to afford-ably get an uncommon set. The caveat is having the knowledge coupled with the "will do" to get it right.
But I know you have large amounts of both qualities and will soon have 'em good as new.
