Ok, powered up Radio.. at 120 Volts in got 700 Ma. Volume loud .. NO HUM..
I added a 22 uf Cap across the B+.. It only had 80 UF .. So now it has about 100 UF ..
Received signal from signal Generator. S-Meter was adjusted and Reading correctly now..
So tomorrow I will Try Transmitter..
Then will have to try and find a Mic for it.. But looking good so far..

>B+ to GND 332 Volts No load..
Not a great idea to operate the p/s w/no load across the HV. The two charging caps (the two 150v ecaps) maybe handling more volt than they are rated for w/out a load. It also doesn't really tell anything as the voltage reading on the schematic are measured w/ everything on and working.
>It came with the following Frequencies
Check the 6mtr band plan. Seem like there is some ssb and digital stuff near your xtals.

Terry, OK thanks for the input. Do you happen to have a XTAL that would work to get on 50.400
Or who does Xtals anymore?

Looks like it time to breakout the bab-o and a piece of glass.
Where you a xtal controlled novice?? (pre '72)
Don't think I have one. I did back in the 80's but lord only know where
it's gotten off to. Had a '53 6mtr goonie too but it's long gone.
You may want to ask around about 6mtr AM activity. Manualman Pete
WA2CWA? could probably fill you in on what goes on up there. I don't
currently have anything on 6.

Yup. I was a novice back in early 60'S. I used to have a Comm ll 6 meter and 2 Meter gonset..
Our fire Station had a Civil Defense unit A fire truck that was white with the CD markings.. Also in station they had a Gonset. I remember running a Net on near 6 Meters around 49 Mhz if I remember.. It was probably a MARS net at that time..
We used to take apart the Xtals and Grind down the Quartz to change the Frequency.. But I dont remember which way it changed .. Higher or Lower..

Higher. Have heard that a little pencil lead can lower the freq slightly but I've never good luck lowering.

Ok, This weekend I will try to get one of the xtals higher in frequency.. Terry Do you recall how much you think I can go higher in freq. The closest one I have is 50.238 / 6 = 8373 do you think i can get it to 8.400 ?
I have a mic from a old SB-33 that might work at lease the mic plug is the same...

27kc is doable. Have done that w/some 40mtr xtals.
I think the goonie wants to see a xtal or carbon mic
but check the manual.
