Cleaning a turntable stylus?
#1

This may be a little off-topic, but lately, I've been struggling with stuttering from my vinyl. I've come to the realization that maybe I need to clean my stylus and cartridge, but I see quite a few different opinions on the topic.

This article kinda hinted me towards getting either some sort of sponge or some sort of gel solution rather than just a brush.

What are your guys take on cleaning a turntable and its stylus? I'd love a few opinions.

I always like to start with a good inspection of the needle. Then you know what you're up against. Of course I have access to magnifying equipment.

Rasmus

are you talking about modern or vintage players?

If modern,

1) you placed in in a wrong forum - this is for Philco restorations. 2) You might go in the "Vintage Hi-Fi" one and post it there.

Even though it is against the policy, I'd say that the best advice for modern turntables and cartridges you will get on AudioKarma or similar places. We here more about really antique things.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.
