ramsey am-25 transmiter

hey guys and Brenda
any one have ramsey am25 ?
I bought it used  said very low volume and distorted
works but I can only get 500  very end of dial on 39-116  and little distorted
like I need a hair more adjustment  I tied trimmers only one made it louder r31

Hi Sam
That set isn't tuneable per say, there isn't a tuned circuit to adjust the frequency. It does have a crystal that is used for a time base and that's what it use to determine the output frequency. What you can try is solder a small value cap (like 5-20pf) across Y1 (crystal). A trimmer could be use instead of the fixed cap. What that will do is shift the frequency of the time base a little lower.

Frequency wise, the AM25 is fully tunable, what the builder has to decide is what range of frequency to build the output matching network. You may need to rebuild the coils but that won't stop it from working on any frequency you select. 

I've built one and are actually fairly good.
