What do I have here?
#1

Hello to all,
While out digging thru a few antique stores today, I ran across this little gem. It is a small bakelite with leatherette panels and a brass or gold colored grill over the speaker.  It is AC powered, no battery compartment.  AM broadcast band only. It opens up, as shown.  The chassis appears to be encased in a perforated metallic case within the bakelite shell. The loop antenna is attached to the back side.  The controls are two thumb wheels on the top, front area.  I have never seen anything like it. It does have the Philco name on the front.  The paper tag on the inside is almost completely destroyed from damage by cord storage.
Any ideas what I might have here? Model no. etc.?

Thanks for looking.

Standard ac/dc set w/an odd cabinet.

When my pals were reading comic books
I was down in the basement in my dad's
workshop. Perusing his Sam's Photofoacts
Vol 1-50 admiring the old set and trying to
figure out what all those squiggly meant.

Now I think I've got!

Thank you Terry. I looked around but couldn’t find anything that looked like it. It appears to be in pretty good shape and should clean up well. I figured it was an AC/DC chassis.

Thanks, again.
