Philco 39-36 code 121
#1

I have a Philco 39-36 I used to listen to with my kids.  After sitting in storage for many years, I wanted to revive it.  I don't think my wafter switch is working right, but don't know how it should work and how it should look.  I took it to someone for some help, but they cut some of my wires and may have removed some parts.
My schematic diagram looks like there are just 2 outside wafers that the wires are attached to and partial rings on the inside and outside of those wafers.  Is there more to the wafer switch, like others that click against another part.  I can tell that the dial moves the bar but it does not making any noise, no clicking.  Should it be making a clicking sound as it moves?  How does that work?  Does anyone have experience with a working switch for that model that could tell me?

Hi and welcome,

Unfortunately I don't have a 39-36 at my beckon call so it's a bit hard for me to visually figure out how all the wires are connected to the bandswitch. By viewing the diagram section A does the oscillator switching and B switches the antenna circuit. This includes the the pushbuttons.

I'm pretty sure that the switch has detents so there is a feel of latching into position. Shouldn't just spin freely with no sense what position your in.

Might help to post a few pics of what you've got so we can see what is going on. Pics need to be about 900x900 or a bit smaller to fit on the Phorum. If not they won't show up.

Hopefully your set has been serviced in the last 15-20yrs if it's due for a going over.

Thank you for your reply, here is a link to a few images of my switch.  Hopefully the images are clear enough. Let me know if I need to take some from another angle.

Renovated Radios do carry what you need. As for the voltage, a wire should be at least 300V-rated.morzh — 11:13 PM
