A very cool toy.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

Here's my cool toy.
I have always wanted a new scope.  I just bought one of these thinking the price of everything is going to go nuts. It's amazing how much you get now for the money.

https://www.jameco.com/z/SDS1202X-E-Sigl...83191.html

It has a voltmeter and frequency counter in it. I sure all new scopes do.  But the SDR radio I have does a much better job of showing a mixer oscillator frequency with all it's unwanted products.

Here's a SDR radio short video showing the entire AM Broadcast band with all the station carriers.

Here's another vid showing the local oscillator moving while tuning.  It appears and moves at the right side of his monitor screen at 2:06 minutes in.
Just by connecting a small loop coil to the antenna port and parking next to a osc mixer it will reveal all.

Hello OZ4 ,
I have been thinking of buying a digital scope too and yes prices really are not bad look what a scope would cost you in the 80s like my dual 20 meg Hitachi or some of my Sencore test Equpment ,
Morzh that is a cool toy !

Sincerely Richard

Chris, looks like a nice unit and small enough for bench top use. My thing is I’m totally not computer savvy so I’m not familiar at all with any of the specs or terminology used to describe this scope. I’m afraid I would be at a loss as to getting the most from equipment like this, it would be more than what I would need, over my head. I like the idea of 200Mhz bandwidth but there are bells and whistles that would be beyond me. I currently have a 45+ year old HealthKit scope, solid state, 15Mhz dual channel unit. Fairly easy to use but takes up a lot of real estate on my bench. I’m just wondering how complicated this scope is or how easy to learn all its features?

The Jameco website just offered me a "10% off for new subscriber" discount and sent me a code to use. Now I have to sit here at work and think about THAT all day.
I've also been drooling over that scope!

I bought a Hantek dual channel digital scope from Circuit Specialists about five years ago. I do not remember the model number or the specs - the scope is downstairs and I am currently upstairs - but I have been very pleased with it. Considering it replaced an old CONAR scope with a CRT and very limited bandwidth, it was a great upgrade. Icon_thumbup
