Philco 38-4xx Cone-Centric Auto Tuning
#1

I may have to work on a Philco 38-4xx console. It has the Cone-Centric Automatic Tuning Mechanism and I'm wondering if anyone knows if this tuning mechanism is totally mounted on the chassis or is there some attachment to the cabinet/bezel. I'm hoping it comes out with the chassis all together as one.

I believe that you need only to remove the coarse and fine tuning knobs and that the "Bezel" (as opposed to the escutcheon which is a of the cabinet) and all else will clear the escutcheon and come out with the chassis. It appears that the mechanism attaches to the chassis with 4 bolts, and a setscrew for the capacitor.

This is a different mech than the "Magnetic" tuning, as far as I can tell. However, the magnetic tuning comes out with the chassis and can be separated from the chassis after removing 6 bolts and cutting 3 wires.
