Replacement Speaker 42-340
#1

I have a 42-340 that I've been working on. I replaced all the rubber wiring underneath, as well as the paper and electrolytic capacitors. It looks great. Now, the only thing remaining before I am able to fire it up is to repair/replace the speaker. It is a 4 x 6 field coil speaker. Philco part number 36-1543-9. Does anyone have a replacement speaker, or know of a reputable place to recone it? The cone and voice coil are totally gone. I've also read around about replacing with a perm magnet speaker, but I'd rather keep it quasi-original.
Thanks,
Russ

I had the speaker for my 42-350 reconed at The Circuit Shop in Detroit. http://www.circuitshop.com/ It was also a 4X6 speaker, maybe the same as yours. I think it was $35, and took about a week and a half to get it back. I think he also charged me for return shipping.

The cone was really messed up, and one of the leads to the voice coil was open, though the coil itself was good. He did a good job. It is my only experience with getting a antique speaker reconed, but I'd recommend him.
