Battery question
#1

Just for the sake of curiosity, I was checking out some Philco battery circuits, and found an interesting one for a 37-33. Reference to:

http://www.nostalgiaair.org/PagesByModel...013202.pdf

It has the 2V "A" battery, which is straight forward enough, but it also has what's described as a "B-C" battery. If I'm following this correctly, it looks like the "C" section is -3V or -9V, and the "B" is +90V or +135V.

Were these actually multiple batteries? In other words, is the "B" a 90 volt and a 45 volt battery in series tapped accordingly, and the "C" a 3 volt and a 6 volt (or 9 volt)?

I don't actually have one of these radios, I'm just being curious. Thanks in advance.

Yep. Philco had two B-C packs in 1940;

Type No. P9068 +135 B and -9 C
Type No. 968 +135 B, -9 and -3 C

OK, that makes sense. Were there multiple terminals for tapping out lower voltages, such as 90 volts as well?

From what I can see in the '39 Philco catalog, the P-9068 uses a 7-pin socket, and clockwise, the voltages are: -3, -B+C, (must be their common), +67.5, +90, +135, -9, -7.5.
