41-250 Phono Input?
#1

Hi guys, starting to recap my 41-250 and I noticed
a RCA phono input jack and toggle switch on the
rear apron. I know this set has a push button to allow
wireless reception of a phonograph or TV and
find it strange that there is also an RCA input. In
Looking at it closer it almost looks factory except
the RCA jack is mounted with two different style
nuts and bolts which raises my suspicions. Also my
Riders doesn't show a phono jack so my question is
is this an original factory setup or was it added later
by someone? If it isn't original then I will remove all this.
Thanks for any ideas on this.

It isn't original. RCA jacks were often added to radios after the fact, and some cabinets were butchered as a result with toggle switches - and sometimes the jacks as well - added to the side or front of a cabinet.

Thanks Ron, at first I thought it was original
as it is wired in with shielded cable and
thankfuly it was all installed on the rear of the
chassis and they spared the cabinet from a
butcher job. This is my first Philco but from
what I've been reading on the forum it seems
like I picked a tough model to start with. It's a
little discouraging to read but I am looking forward
To the challenge as it is a nice looking set.

Except for the push button switches as an additional weak link and a schematic muddying agent there is not that much more tough about this model than it is about others. Electrically it is just radio.
And then there is always the Deoxit Icon_smile

Suerte, good luck, удачи - have fun!
