Need Antenna Transformer Coils for Broadcast and Police
#1

Hi Guys,

I am working on a Philco 37-60 that belonged to my Grandfather. It is a Tombstone and it always sat in his shop. I remember hearing it play when I was a kid. I started working on it and it looks like both the Broadcast and Police Antenna Transformer coils are damaged. There is frayed wires on both coils. Anyone know where I can get replacements or is there any way to fix these. Part numbers from the Ryder are 32-2108 and 32-2119 respectively.

Well if you can post some pics of them I might be able to get you some ideas on how to rewind them. Short of that you are probably looking for a donor chassis.
It's was a pretty popular set so a donor may not be to hard to find. You might to look at a 60 chassis and see if it uses the same coils, those sets are everywhere.

"Hey, ma... a rodent ate my coils."

Looks like it may be just the primaries of the two coils that have been shredded. These are pretty easy to rewind, given a little care.

Where do I find information about how to rewind them?

You might want to check out Play Things of the Past. I've gotten a few scores there, but beware that lots of his listings are way out of date. Also cranky if you don't do things the way he wants you to. http://www.oldradioparts.com/

Thanks I have talked with him. He does not have the correct coil, but perhaps one that will work.
