Half a Mae West with a crack in her ***. Chassis plays Ok but not a great playing set, Emersom had some sleepers but I think with the power cord on this one it could be electrifying.

Yeah...that ballast tube looks like it just came from garbage.
But yeah...for whatever reason these Emersons are collectable.
Don't see why.

That's no ballast tube, that's the antenna coil.

Again, as Morzh/Mike knows Emersons are cheap radios in sometimes pretty cabinets. The cabinet on this set looks terrible, someone at some point slobbed lacquer or varnish all over the original flaking finish, then there is that damaged speaker grille. I really don't get the appeal of these, Emerson wasn't the only one to use fancy cabinets on small sets, yet they seem to grab all the glory just because of that tin plate on the back.

Sometimes the plate is on the bottom.

I don't know how he can describe that as "restored".. it looks like he dunked it in a can of clear poly and called it done. I wonder how bad the insides are?

From the looks of the antenna coil, I don't see how that radio can work. It looks like it has been struck by lightening.

I would take one of these, I bet it would play better, not an Ingraham.

AM only but I bet a good player.

Brenda,

You are right, at a closer look it is the antenna coil. Oh, my Gosh! This thing looks like it has been lifted from the ocean floor after 40 years. If it works, I'll be a monkey's uncle.

Renovated Radios do carry what you need. As for the voltage, a wire should be at least 300V-rated.morzh — 11:13 PM
