A 20 dollar Craigslist find

Up front, let me say that the pic is DEFINITELY an "after" one.

"Before" it had no speaker or dial glass, was filthy, and the chassis required me to rebuild the antenna coil, fabricate an RF choke, and un-do about a third of ALL the wiring due to some previous owner.

YES, I got it from one of the more,...uh..... "colorful" individuals I have met since I have been in the hobby. He was a tube collector who cataloged all his tubes by (drum roll): WHO he got the tubes from and the DATE he got them.

He wanted TOP DOLLAR for tubes BUT didn't care a whit about this set.

TA When did you purchase the set? Did you run away with the radio after you gave the guy the 20 dollar bill, because you stole that radio!

Did he pull all the tubes out before he let you take it?

Nice find, and even nicer work on it! Just goes to show there are still deals to be found if one is patient.

The Z was an extreme example of a "good deal." I am not a Z guy, but for the price..... who could turn it down!

But agree that the deals are still out there. The more folks that know you are a "radio-man," the more opportunities you will have presented to you.
