Re conditioning record platter
#1

What is the process called when you re condition the record platter?  I bought a 53-1750 radio/phonograph and the felt like material on the platter is worn down, rough and hard.   Does anyone know what company(s) are available to strip and recoat this felt like material on these old platters?   Thanks,[Image: http://philcoradio.com/phorum/images/smi...nfused.gif]

It is called flocking or getting your turntable platter re-flocked. There are a number of companies and individuals that can do this. You can also buy a bag of what ever color brown or black flock and a "flour sifter" to reflock your own. Mostly they use a flocking gun that sprays the product onto a wet painted surface and most of it sticks, then some of it does not.
