Great Tube Substitution Manual!
#1

My old GE tube substitution manual grew legs and lost itself to a un-responsible borrower awhile back. I found a great tube-sub manual online for free download if anyone needs one. This manual is the 1953 Sylvania Tube Sub manual, and covers it ALL!
This manual gives all info to sub tubes,( all types) how-to & all info to do socket changes if wanted, wiring changes, adding resistors if necessary, and all etc! It is free for download in pdf files.
For radio type tubes, just download and print pages #1 thru 24 covers all radio tube data. Pgs 26- 42 covers all TV tube data.
For both newbies & veteran-tube techs as well, this manual will come in very-handy to all, especially if you dont already have one !!! You can find it here:

Thanks Texasrocker for the tip! This one goes into a lot of detail that I've never seen before about any necessary modifications.

While on the subject, another worth looking for that concerns direct substitutions w/o making any modifications is a Rider publication written by H. A. Middleton. Name on mine is 1963 Tube Caddy, tube substitution guidebook. It simply rates the substitutes with a good or excellent rating.
