Philco Speaker Wire - AUTHENTIC LOOKING
#1

Does anyone have a good source for the cloth covered wire to replace the connection between the chassis and speaker on 1930s Philcos tombstones and catherdrals? I am looking for something authentic looking.

I am talking about the 3-4 cloth-covered conductors that are usually green-white-green/white-blue/white.

I have plenty of 22 ga. cloth covered wire. But anything I use sticks out like a sore thumb.

What do you use to make it look close AUTHENTIC and ORIGINAL?

Hi Mark - have a look at this thread:

I've used that wire on a number of radios without problem.

Try Radio Daze, in New York. They have a full online catalog. Use their 300V wire as it is slightly thinner. Also the cloth covering is bonded to the new vinyl wire for easy stripping. I use it for all jobs, however if you wish you can get it rated at 600V too. Radio Daze is the best source of grill cloth, wire and dials as well as capacitors and resistors.

Daze"s wire is good, I use it, but as for authentic looks, no it doesn't look authentic. It is passable.
The wire above looks indeed very nice.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.
