Emerson 659 Trouble
#1

I had this radio recapped not long ago and have been enjoying it off and on since then. Tonight I had it playing for roughly two hours to listen to a music show on FM when it suddenly started to drift, then cut out. It works on AM, but no FM all of a sudden. If I turned it off, then back on, I can get FM for a few seconds before it fades back out again. Hmm.. Well, the first step was to pull the 12AT7 and swap in a used, but good testing RCA 12AT7 I found not long ago. Well, FM came back, but the band was suddenly horribly out of alignment and within about 30 seconds it faded out again. So far turning the radio off and on brings it back briefly and so does flipping the band switch back and forth. Any ideas as to what happened?
For now I am using my circa 2005 GE Super Radio for FM listening in my bedroom as I don't want to use the Zeniths until they are recapped this year.

No matter where you go, there you are.
