I just bought a 16B from an online auction. It looked to be in nice shape from the photos. Cabinet is nice but the chassis is not. Someone sprayed the chassis with gray paint over rusted areas, painted the tube shields, etc. But, I think I can take care of that. Also, the speaker is in good shape. My immediate concern is the tuning assembly.
As you can see in the pictures, someone has tried to do some repair. I'm not sure how this thing works and have several questions for you experts:
1. How many rubber wheels should there be? I have the one rubber wheel and the rubber OD on the dial.
2. What should each rubber wheel mate with?
3. Am I missing any parts?
4. The left hand shaft is the actual tuning condenser. The longer silver shaft in the middle of the picture is the tuning knob shaft. The shaft with the rubber wheel doesn't appear to connect to anything and essentially free wheels.
5. Does anyone sell repair parts?
6. Has anyone out there repaired this mechanism and if so do you have any suggestions, lessons learned to share?
Thanks,
Joe Miller
