Philco 16L pilot lamps
#1

My 16L was butchered when I got it. There appears to have been 3 pilot lamps, all #46s. One is to light up the shadow meter, one goes on the back of the movable portion on the band indicator, but I cannot find reference to, nor pics of, where the 3rd one attaches. Does anyone have an idea?

Thanks,

Pat

I'm seeing 5 all together, 1 for each band and one for the sm.
This presumes that it's a 4 band set. The 5 band set only has 2 lamps.
You didn't state how many bands your set has.

Sorry, Terry. It's a 5 band. So if the 5 band only has 2 lamps, someone at sometime, for some reason, wired a 3rd lamp in the circuit. Makes sense now.

Thanks,

The only thing I can think of is perhaps it may fit into the cabinet to backlight some part. If the wire matches the rest of the set then maybe if it doesn't then I would remove it.
I think Ed H has a 16L.

No, the wire was different. It was actually soldered directly to the bulb, rather than using a socket. Since it was a bayonet, and the others are screw type, they probably didn't have a bayonet replacement for a burned out #46 for the dial. The SM bulb was still good. I'll go with that reasoning.
