Help! Philco Model 48-1284
#1

Good morning! I recently purchased this Philco and have some questions. I've never used a phonograph, and this one in particular, is very intimidating (I have very limited knowledge of Philco or phonographs). The radio works but the person that I purchased it from couldn't get the phonograph to work. Are there any troubleshooting suggestions? It might need replacement parts but I really don't want to go down that road.

Thanks for your help!

Hello Sammy. About all I can say is I have not run into one phonograph in the old radios that I did not have to do a good bit of work on to get them to play. Sometimes disassembly and thorough lube & cleaning will be all. But usually the cartridge or at least needle is bad, and if it uses one, the idler wheel that turns the platter is shot. Hopefully the motor is good.
