40-155T Bezel
#1

Greetings-

I started to restore a 40-155T that I purchased locally, and quickly found I was in over my head.  I hired a local guy to restore the electronics, and I'm looking at tweaking the cabinet.

I see youtubers posting about this radio and their bezels are shiny and gold -- mine seems to have faded and is dull and silverish.  What's the recommended restore-- do I polish or paint?  If I paint, is there a recommended paint/shade?

Also noted in one youtubers video, the background color in the dial class is the "wine" color of the buttons, where mine is just the plain color of the bulb.  Is this something that restorer did to make his unique?

Thanks so much!

I don't know for sure but suspect the bezel was an aged brass look. Bob Andersen did a 39-30 and has a youtube on it showing how he did the bezel. I followed along for a 39-25 restoration and described it in my notes. Hope it helps.
