Progress! I found a periodic short in the wiring, got hold of a Vitrohm resistor catalog and nailed down values that were previously just a guess. Finally, an 80 rectifier tube was installed. Radio draws .5 amps and runs warm to the touch after 30 minutes. No trace of stray voltages. There’s still a little hum when pulling in a station but otherwise it runs quietly. It appears that this radio is close to the finish line. Thanks guys! - Rob Q.
