I am in the process of restoring the cabinet bezel for a Philco 46-1209. The original finish has all flaked off down to the bare wood.
. It’s basically a clean slate, but I’m unsure how to approach a new finish. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You might look into a self-adhesive vinyl with a wood grain on it. I had bought some a few years ago from a company who markets it for putting wood grain on vehicle dashboards. It can be worked around curves like those on your bezel. I've used it on a couple radio projects. One was to replace a photo finish burl walnut strip on an Airline cabinet and the other to cover the face plate on an Atwater Kent 480.
