Safety caps
#1

Iam looking at a safety cap with a Y4 rating. Voktage on cap says 400ac. What is the y4 rating?

When I Google searched Y4 capacitor, this definition came up...
Y capacitor sub-classes. Y4 capacitors have a rated voltage under 150 volts of alternating current (VAC) Y3 capacitors have a rated voltage from 150 up to 250 VAC. Y2 capacitors have a rated voltage from 150 up to 500 VAC and basic insulation. Y1 capacitors have a rated voltage of up to 500 VAC and double insulation.
Hope this helps. -Gary

If Y4 capacitor says 400V, it is probably because it is rated both Y4 and X1.
This will make it X-rated to, say, 400VAC, and Y-rated to, say, 125VAC.

Like this one.

Sorry, what is misleading? The specifications, the explanations given...other? Gary pretty much has explained the rating.

Hello Martin ,
well the part from mouser is the one I keep in stock and use most often it also is small enough to fit in one the bakelite blocks too.
