Philco 40-216 pricing
#1

Hi,

I have found a Philco 40-216 at an antique store. It looks complete and in not too bad a shape. The owner is asking $175.00. I do not know if it powers up and frankly would only want to do so with a variac.

I restore old radios but mostly ham radios. This will be my first Philco and I was wondering if this is a reasonable price. I have pics if anyone would like to see.

Thank you,

George

Greetings from South Florida. For what it's worth, I have picked up a console in realy rough shape @ $50 and a table top in realy decent shape for $10. There should be a remote control with that one i think. No, don't plug it in, you know why . All these old radios need to be electronicaly restored if not already, that's a given. If your new to the phorum give a good look around as the information and wisdom found here is priceless. I come from a TV/ Radio repair backround and yet this is in my opinion the best resource available for radio restoration in general. Obviosly price tends to be what the market will bear kind of value so get haggling. I'm sure it will wind up as a personal treasure!

If that Model 40-216 also has the Mystery Control remote with it for $175, jump on it!
The remote not only selects preset stations on the radio, but also increases and
decreases the volume and can turn the set off via the Mystery Control remote.

Chuck.
