Hello Phorum members. I had to start a new thread for this since my others for the 37-640 were closed. I am replacing the speaker wires from the chassis to the speaker. Can I use the new 22 gauge cloth covered stranded wire that I have? Thanks, John

You can use just about any stranded wire; teh sole reason I would not use 26 is it is brittle and tears easily.

The last time I rewired a speaker cable I used 18 AWG because it has a 600 volt rating, and was easy to get by the roll, in multiple colours, otherwise I could have used 20 gauge. I would not go too thin as it may be fine electrically, but less so mechanically, a speaker cable, for an electrodynamic speaker, is something that should be able to flex without breaking internally.

In other words, a typical AWG22 rted 300V or 600V is just fine.
