Philco 610 Condenser Block Question
#1

I'm cleaning out two side by side bakelite blocks in my Philco 610. Both blocks have 4989DG inscribed on the side, so you'd think they'd be the same mfd. Looking at the schematic from Nostalgia Air, the part numbers 15 and 36 list these as 4989DG, but 15 is twin .09 and 36 is twin .1

Looking at the bakelite block list on Philoc Repair bench I see the Universal 4989DG @ .1 , but the 4989 @ .09 is listed with different letters, ie. 4989B, 4989C, or 4989G... which is correct, or does it matter?

Finally located the "second" 15, all four locations on the schematic specify .1 mfd, the parts list disagrees by a tad, Boy, get this close on an old Philco and I'd be happy as a pig in .... None of the locations look critical, use the .1 mfds. Still well within tolerance.

Rick,
I guess I'm suffering from "duh...look at the schematic" syndrom. You're absolutely correct after I looked at the Nostalgia Air schematic it shows both 15 and 36 to be .1mfd blocks, just like what is stamped on the side of the blocks. Next time I'll confirm the parts list against the schematic before wasting everyone's time on the Pfhorum....! I'm electronically challenged, so I make alot of beginner mistakes

Thanks for the response !!!

Never hurts to be careful. These old Philcos can be a challenge when things don't add up. Regards
