37-10 Restore
#1

Back for more...I just bought a 37-10 console with magnetic tuning. Other than the standard re-cap and checking tubes/resistors, what tips may anyone have for going through one of these? Also, I just "finished" working on a model 118 console. The volume drops and then increases again when the set is first on with distinct changes in tonal quality, then evens out after the set is on for 10-20 minutes. The only block cap. I did not rework is the dual .0001. The resistors all appear to be in range or very close, no open ones. Tubes seem OK but if there is something I may be missing let me know, please.....Soooo....tips for the 37-10 and this pesky 118? Very grateful in advance for any feedback.

Check volume control on the 118, clean with contact cleaner if needed.

The caps you didn't replace are #52? If so, I would replace them with 110pF caps. Do not vary as they are part of the 2d detector circuitry.

Also verify the 2d detector tube is good, especially for leakage. The 6J5 sometimes will have excessive leakage from K to heater.

Thanks for the model 118 tips!
