665x cabinet help
#1

Need some help with the cabinet on this 665x. The top has some deeper scratches. The bottom part has some chips as well as part of the front bezel. Are there official codes or recipes for the different stain colors? Scratches on top are probably manageable, but I'm not sure the best method to tackle the chips pictured.

Best,
Brad

You can Gojo the top and that usually gets rid of the scratches. Somehow it removes all the crud but puts that removed color into the scratched areas. If that does not look good enough you can always use scratch remover. I forget the name brand?? Comes in light and dark in a bottle..

For the chips where the veneer is gone there is not much you can do besides add veneer patches or just stain them to match and live with it as original wear and tear.

Maybe Old English is the scratch filler you were thinking of? If the chips are smooth and not gouged out, you might try steaming them to swell the wood enough to make them not as noticeable if it is on a solid/non veneered area. I have used that method on gun stocks and sometimes it will swell flush to the top depending on how deep they are. Steaming also works great on dents.
