Got this today
#1

http://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/atq/4655224956.html

For 30 bucks.
It is working too.
Though no one ever restored it. Was receiving a station when I came, and no hum either.
The guy hapened to be a colleague, plus we knew some mutual acquaintances, so we had a nice chat for some time.

He offered me another tabletop Philo, likely late 40s and a bakelite Z for free, but I did not take them.

Real close to me, 10 minutes maybe.

Nice,
Real wood veneer, no photofinish?
#9

I think so, yes.
#10

Too bad it wasn't a 37-640MX, but for $30 you can't go wrong if it's all there.

Arran

Other than cabinet, what's the difference?
#12

A nicer looking cabinet, with mahogany veneer it looks like, the chassis and the rest would be the same.

I personally like the 640X cabinet styling a little better, but the 640MX seems less common with a production run of only 6,000 vs. 18,500 for the X.  In any case that was a good find.... congratulations Icon_thumbup

Actually as I am looking at it, I also do like 640X styling better. MX is a bit boxy for my taste though of course I would take it in also.
