Philco 40-190 Band Selector
#1

I assume that the positions of the band selector on the Philco 40-190 radio are as follows.

Far Left position ---- Broadcast Band
Center position ---- Lower Frequency Short Wave Band
Far Right position ---- Higher Frequency Short Wave Band

Please confirm this assumption.

Thank you.

Oscar,

You are correct. The decal on the radio actually says 'POL' for police band for the center position, but it is the 1.5 Mhz to 3.5 Mhz band.

By the way, I have a very nice 40-190 I use regularly in the living room here. I always thought that cabinet style was one of the nicest for the 1940 model year.

I do not have the cabinet, but just the chassis for the Philco 40-190 radio. There are 8 push buttons. I assume that some or all of them are presets for broadcast stations.

Are they all presets or do some of them serve another function other than being a preset?

Thank you.
